Winter Beach Roadie: The Ultimate Adventure

Calling all fellow adventurers! Are you ready to hit the road and explore some of the most beautiful coastal spots in Aotearoa? Buckle up and join us on an unforgettable winter beach roadie, visiting some of the best Tasman Holiday Parks along the way. Starting from the tranquil Miranda and winding our way to the stunning Papamoa Beach, this 7-day adventure is packed with fun activities, amazing sights, and plenty of good vibes. Let’s dive in!

Day 1: Miranda – The Journey Begins

Known for its thermal hot pools, Miranda is the perfect place to kick off your holiday. Settle into Tasman Holiday Parks – Miranda, where you can enjoy a stroll through the fairy forest, a round of mini golf, and the thrill of the flying fox. Or relax and unwind in the thermal hot pools, letting the warm waters melt away the stress and get you ready for the adventures ahead.

Discover the Pukorokoro Miranda Shorebird Centre minutes down the road, home to thousands of New Zealand’s most beautiful migration birds. Sit in one of the bird hides and watch as thousands of birds swirl in flocks around you, enjoy a guided tour from their knowledgeable team, and check out their information centre with decades of research collected by the team.

Day 2: Miranda to Coromandel – Coastal Charm

Pack up and head towards the Coromandel, a region known for its lush forests and stunning beaches. Driving along the Thames Coastal Road is a sight to behold of its own, with pohutukawa trees lining the road along the way, and beautiful coastal views the entire way along, take it easy on the winding roads and maybe even stop at one of the many little beaches along the way for a picnic.

Family Fun at Coromandel 

Arrive at Tasman Holiday Parks – Coromandel, where you can enjoy top-notch facilities including a swimming pool, jumping pillow, karts, and a playground. Challenge the whānau to a race on the karts or see who can bounce the highest on the jumping pillow. The playground is perfect for the little ones to burn off some energy.

Day 3: Exploring Coromandel Town 

Take a short drive or a leisurely stroll down to Coromandel Town and immerse yourself in its rich history and vibrant arts scene. Visit the local markets, grab a bite at a cozy café, make a splash with Waterworks Coromandel or head down and explore the iconic Driving Creek Railway.

Local Attractions 

Head down to Driving Creek Railway, New Zealand’s only mountain railway. Explore the mountains aboard the unique train, travelling through tunnels and over bridges you’ll find yourself surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most stunning native landscape. The park also offers pottery classes and a flying fox tour, providing a fun and educational experience for all ages.

Day 4: Coromandel to Waihi Beach – Coastal Beauty 

Continue your journey to the beautiful Waihi Beach. Settle into Tasman Holiday Parks – Waihi Beach perfect for the kids with its many child-friendly facilities, or Tasman Holiday Parks – Beachaven which is 100% pet friendly year-round and has great facilities – be careful not to mix the two up! Then get ready for some coastal fun. 

Saturday Night Fun 

Every Saturday from 5 pm, both parks light up the pizza oven and get cooking! Gather around with other campers for a slice of delicious, freshly made pizza from the team or take a crack at making your own.

Day 5: Waihi – Beach Bliss

Head on down to the beach and spend the day soaking up the beauty of our stunning little coastal town. Whether you’re building sandcastles, exploring the coastal walks, going for a swim, or just relaxing with a good book, Waihi Beach makes for a stunning day out.

Coastal Beach Walk

Hit the trails and discover hidden coves. The Orokawa Bay Walk starts from the northern end of Waihi Beach and takes you through beautiful native forest to the secluded Orokawa Bay. At 3km (6km return) the track can take about an hour each way. You’ll discover beautiful coves and find incredible viewpoints along the way. Make sure to take some food and water, once you get to Orokawa Bay you won’t want to leave again!

Day 6: Waihi to Papamoa

Hop in the car and head on down the road, a little over an hour, to your final stop on this roadie. Tasman Holiday Parks – Papamoa Beach has something to suit all your accommodation needs, with Poolside Villas, or the beach side camp sites, you’re sure to find something perfect for your adventure.

Hit the Park

Keep the kids entertained for hours with the many in park activities. From volleyball to giant chess, swimming to our adventure playground, the little ones will leave you in peace while you sit back with a good book and relax on the last days of your holiday.

Day 7: Wrapping Up Your Adventure

As your winter beach roadie comes to an end, take a stroll along the beach and enjoy some time to reflect on the wonderful memories you’ve made. Whether it was the thermal hot pools in Miranda, the jumping pillow in Coromandel, or the heated pool in Papamoa, each stop has brought something special to your holiday.
