Must-do's.
EXPLORE TATHRA WHARF
Built in 1862, the historic Tathra Wharf is the only deep sea timber wharf on the east coast. This iconic wharf is a drawcard for families, snorkellers, divers and photographers. Watch the spring whale migration or see fur seals and fairy penguins from Montague Island. Pop into The Wharf Local Coffee Bar and Gallery afterwards.
LOCAL WALKS
Fresh air, remarkable scenery and marine life – enjoy it all with a local walk. Tathra Headland Walk goes between Tathra Wharf and heritage-listed Tathra Hotel. Viewing platforms offer great whale watching opportunities. Another popular option is Kangarutha Walking Track, which links Bournda National Park with Kianinny Bay. If you’re feeling energetic, walk or cycle the track from Kalaru to Tathra.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
If you’re mad about mountain biking, Tathra’s unique coastal trail will be a highlight of your holiday. Almost 55km of single track includes trails suited to all ages, from beginners to intermediate or expert riders. Enjoy climbs with beautiful beach views, trails winding through eucalypts, sweeping descents, log rollovers, gully drops and rocks.
SURF OR STAND UP PADDLEBOARD
Get out and explore the waterways. Coastlife Adventures offers surfing and stand up paddleboard lessons for all ages and experience levels. Sea and river kayak tours are also available.
EXPLORE THE TINY ZOO
Get up close and personal with some feathered, scaly and spiky critters. Enjoy a hands-on experience with a tawny frogmouth, blue tongue lizard, echidna or maybe a python! Book a fascinating Zoo on Wheels experience for your family, or look out for a ‘pop up’ zoo in the local area.
EXPLORE BEACHES & SEA LIFE
Walk the foreshore, swim, surf or paddle board at Tathra Beach. Swim or snorkel in the clear waters of Kianinny Bay.
