North Island

Spectacular scenery is just the start.

Wild beauty and
wild adventure await in our holiday parks in North Island!

From the dazzling white beaches and awesome surfing breaks of the Bay of Plenty to the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, there’s a holiday – and a North Island holiday park – to suit everyone!

Waihi is a great starting point to explore the Coromandel Peninsula and the northern end of the Bay of Plenty, with a safe swimming and surfing on the white sandy beach.

When you’re ready for action, put on your hiking shoes or bike helmet and hit the fabulous walking and cycling trails around this old gold mining town, with stops along the way at heritage parks, swimming spots and cafes serving scrumptious local produce.

Papamoa is perfectly placed midway in the Bay of Plenty for a laid-back beach holiday with great surfing, safe swimming, and a choice of walking and cycling trails.

Rotorua is the gateway to a thermal wonderland, pristine lakes and lush forests, and renowned for a long history of Maori hospitality towards visitors.

Thrill seekers will be in their element at the Velocity Valley Adrenaline Park, on the city’s outskirts. Or try the mountain luge track, forest canopy tours and the heart-stopping Zorb downhill ride.

Ready to chill out? Head east to Ohiwa Beach, where just a few steps from the holiday park you can surf, swim, fish, paddleboard, take a bush walk or simply relax beneath a vibrant pohutukawa tree.

Explore the regions of
the North Island.

Bay of Plenty, North Island NZ

On the central east coast of the North Island, the Bay of Plenty is one of the first places in the world to greet the new day. Watch the sun rise over the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean and sink into the mountain ranges inland.

Whether you’re swimming, surfing, snorkelling, kayaking, fishing or relaxing, you’ll be spoilt for choice with dozens of beaches and estuaries close at hand.

Take a surfing lesson on Waihi Beach, sail a land yacht at Papamoa, climb the Papamoa Hills trail for breathtaking views of the Bay of Plenty, swim with the dolphins at Tauranga, paddleboard around the Ohiwa Harbour, kayak amidst penguins and fur seals, and picnic under pohutukawa trees on the white sands of Ohiwa beach.

Head inland from Waihi for beautiful river walks and swimming spots, cascading waterfalls, great cycling trails and working heritage farms.

Hang with the locals at farmers’ markets in Waihi, the Mount and Whakatane, book in for a seafood dinner at the Mount Maunganui Fishing Club, and enjoy a spot of retail therapy in Tauranga’s high-end boutiques.

Rotorua, North Island NZ

Our Rotorua holiday park is the perfect base for exploring this internationally renowned centre of New Zealand’s geothermal tourism and Maori culture.

Visit the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute at Whakarewarewa to enjoy legendary Maori hospitality.

You’ll experience a warm welcome ceremony incorporating songs, chants, poi and a spine-tingling haka. Watch new generations of young Maori learn from master carvers and weavers, and visit Pohutu, the biggest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere.

Explore some of the eleven lakes within half an hour’s drive of the city centre, from tranquil Lake Okataina to nearby Lake Tarawera set against the forbidding mountain that erupted in 1886, killing some 120 people.

Make time for a bush walk around the bush-fringed Blue Lake (Lake Tikitapu) and don’t miss the elevated Redwood Grove treewalk.

After a strenuous day of exploring and adventures, visit the local bars and restaurants of Eat Streat, feast on a traditional Maori ‘hangi’ cooked in an underground oven, or simply chill out back at your North Island holiday park with a glass of wine.
