South Coast NSW – The perfect weekender from Sydney or Canberra

The South Coast of New South Wales is the perfect little getaway for Sydney siders or Canberrans. With its quaint coastal towns lined with pristine beaches, green rolling hills, award-winning restaurants, cafes and wineries, bush tracks, beautiful scenery and so much more, it’s the perfect setting to relax, unwind and have some good old-fashioned fun.

One of our favourite places on the South Coast is Bawley Point. Just under a four-hour drive from Sydney and two and a half hours from Canberra, it’s a scenic drive for a fair-dinkum Aussie getaway.

The best Bawley Point accommodation is Tasman Holiday Parks – Racecourse Beach. Whether you want to camp under the stars or stay in a cabin or villa that fits the whole family – you will find it here.

There’s no need to take the car out when you’re here, with everything you need right here at your doorstep. Racecourse Beach is great for swimming, fishing, surfing, and has amazing sand dunes that will keep the kids (and big kids) entertained for hours. There’s a giant jumping pillow, playground, activity centre, mini-golf, swimming pool and more.

Racecourse Beach is surrounded by beautiful national parks. Take the coastal track from the beach through Murramarang National Park to see the Spotted Gum Trees that stand tall along the coastline. Take a walk over to Pebbly Beach to visit the resident roo’s. You will be sure to kangaroos grazing the grass nearby or hopping along the beach. Who knows, you may even spot the legendary surfing kangaroo.

There are plenty of walking tracks nearby including Durras Lake Discovery Trail, Depot Beach Rainforest Walk, Myrtle Beach Walking Track and Wasp Head Walk, just to name a few. If you want to venture out it’s just a short trip to see the exotic animals at Mogo Zoo, sip wine at the Bawley Valley Estate Winery, or check out some of the neighbouring beaches.

Another little gem you can’t go past is Jervis Bay. Well known for its white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters, you will find complete serenity only three-hours drive from Sydney and Canberra. The tranquil beaches here are perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, whale and dolphin watching, and more.

There are plenty of nature walks, cycling tracks, restaurants, cafes and wineries in the surrounding area. For more of a cultural experience look no further than Booderee National Park. Learn all about the Aboriginal history of this magical place and how generations have thrived here for many years.

Tasman Holiday Parks – Myola is the perfect accommodation in the Jervis Bay area. It has all the comforts of home with a range of refurbished poolside cabins. For those that prefer the great outdoors, there are powered and unpowered campsites for caravans or tents. With plenty of amenities including a swimming pool, tennis court and playground – the kids will be happy to explore the park as they please.

With so much to see and do in the South Coast of New South Wales, it’s the perfect place for a weekend away.
