Road Trip: Perth to Yallingup and Margaret River Region

Road Trip: Perth to Yallingup and Margaret River Region

Beautiful clear waters, white sandy beaches a multitude of vineyards, and amazing places to dine are just a few things attracting tourists to Western Australia from all over the globe. In particular, the Margaret River region, or as the locals like to call it, “Margs”. And what better way to explore this marvellous place than with the ultimate road trip from Perth to Yallingup then on to Margaret River. We have your trip planned with places to stop along the way. As it’s only a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Perth to Margaret River, you could just drive straight through, but life is about the journey, not the destination. Plus, you would be missing a lot of cool things along the way.

Amaze Miniature Park

Your first stop has to be Amaze Miniature Park. Just a 50-minute drive south of Perth, you will find this little (excuse the pun) gem. Explore 4 acres of beautifully manicured gardens with 70 miniature buildings and several interactive model trains. Most of the mini buildings are replicas of well-known buildings including the Eiffel Tower. There is a mini-golf course, a large hedge maze and a playground the kids will love. It’s the perfect place to stretch your legs before hitting the road again.

Busselton

Busselton is the perfect spot to have lunch and explore this vibrant coastal town. Here you will find the 1.8-kilometre Busselton Jetty that stretches along the protected waters of Geographe Bay. Take a train to the end where you will find an Underwater Observatory 8 meters below the ocean’s surface. Trains run every hour and it’s best to book ahead. Once you’re down there you will find eleven observation windows where you can feast your eyes on an array of colourful, tropical, and sub-tropical fish, corals, and other little critters. For a closer look there a scuba diving, snorkelling and undersea helmet walk tours. Head to the end of the jetty for a quick bite at the café before heading back to the car for the final leg of your journey.

Yallingup

Head South to the stunning seaside town of Yallingup. You will find pristine beaches, rugged coastline, walking trails, national parks, whale watching, unique wildlife, fishing, heritage sites, and gourmet food and wine. With so much to see and do here, it’s the perfect place to spend a night or two before heading down to the “Marg”. Stay at Tasman Holiday Parks – Yallingup Beach and experience memorable moments in our clean, safe, and friendly holiday park. We have many accommodation options including cabins, bell tents, powered and un-powered sites. Once checked in to your accommodation, venture out to one of our local attractions or explore the stunning beach just across the road. Alternatively, you could stay at the Tasman Holiday Parks – Yallingup Caves. Nestled alongside the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, it’s the perfect place to surround yourself with nature. There are also fantastic facilities to keep the kids entertained including a jumping pillow, games room, TV room, flying fox and more. With many accommodation options, there is something here for everyone.

Margaret River

Your final destination awaits, the Margaret River – named after the river that winds through picturesque forests flowing out to the Indian Ocean. Here you will find world-class wineries, the Mammoth Cave, and of course, the Margaret River itself. Flowing through picturesque forests you will see beautiful greenery from ferns, palms, and Jarrah trees.

Book your trip today and create magical moments exploring this amazing part of the world.
