When: Every Sunday from Labour weekend until Easter, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Where: Wilson Park, Citrus Ave, Waihi Beach.

Held every Sunday from Labour weekend until Easter, the Waihi Beach Sunday Market is the perfect way to kickstart a relaxing Sunday in Waihi. The market runs from 9am to 1pm at Wilson Park on Citrus Ave, and offers a variety of stalls. Everything from organic produce to homewares and clothing. It’s the perfect way to support local small businesses and find something unique as a souvenir for your Waihi holiday!

Where: Waihi Beach Surf Lifesaving Club – 2 Beach Road, Waihi

Get in on the action at the BP Surf Rescue North Island Championships! Known for its hard and fast racing, this event is one of the largest Inflatable Rescue Boat racing competitions on the Surf Life Saving calendar.

Located right on Waihi Beach, this event is hard to miss and will be one of the highlights of your Waihi Beach visit, and fun for the whole family.

When: Sunday 10th April 9:00am.

Where: Meet at the Waihi Beach Surf Club carpark.

Join guide Ian Robinson for a two-hour walking tour to discover the history of Waihi Beach Gold Mining and the Treasure Island Reef! This walk is part of The Echo Walking Festival 2022, running from the 9th-24th April. With a variety of walks from the Coromandel to Kaimais, the festival allows you to explore

The Waihi Beach walk is graded a 3, with children over the age of 10 years welcome to join with a parent or guardian. Bring food, drink and appropriate shoes with you.

The Nugget Multi Sport Festival

While the Nugget Multi Sport Festival has been cancelled for 2022, save the date for 2023! The Nugget Multi Sport Festival has been around for over 12 years. This race can be enjoyed by anyone, individually or in teams, with several options for people of all experience levels.

The Full Nugget MultiSport Race takes you from the town centre of Waihi on an incredible adventure to the Tauranga Harbour, Waihi Beach, along coastal trails and farmland, and more. It’s the perfect reminder of how amazing New Zealand nature is.

The Nugget Multi Sport Festival is a charity event, run by volunteers and local community members. Each year the event raises around $10,000 for local charities and community organisations.

There are 5 options for the event:

  • Full Nugget MultiSport Race — Road Bike + Kayak + Trail Run + MTB, for individuals or teams.
  • Half Nugget Duathlon — Trail Run + MTB, for individuals or teams.
  • 23 km Trail Run/Walk.
  • 10 km Trail Run/Walk.
  • 6 km Trail Run/Walk.
